Aussie Challenge – Women 4’s Volleyball Tournament
Received this via email from Greg at MARVA.
Scott Noeker:
This is a fundraising tournament for my son Cory Noeker. He has been selected to represent our hometown of Westphalia, the state of Michigan and the United States at an international track meet in Australia. He’ll be running against other U.S athletes including Hawaii, as well as athletes from Australia, Fiji and New Zealand. Cory is a Junior at Pewamo-Westphalia High School and was the highest scoring athlete at the State Finals last year (regardless of class) as a Sophomore.
Needless to say his mother and myself are very, very proud and are doing everything we can to raise the money for him to go.
If this will work, here’s the information for our tournament.

LTS 2009 Tournament – Thank You!
On behalf of Lansing Tamil Sangam (LTS), we’d like to extend our thanks to all the teams who made this a fun, exciting and a memorable event! Here are the results
Winners:
- 3rd place – Jackson National Life
- 2nd place – Bridges A
- 1st place – Spike Crew – Canon Squadron
With over 55 people playing in 9 teams, there was no dearth of excitement throughout the day. Every team played their hearts out and the spirit of the players need to be applauded.
We’d also like to thank Sudarsan for booking the courts and having the venue ready for us.
A big thanks to everyone who helped clean up the place after the games as well! And the audience who were cheering the teams.
We will be posting pictures from the tournament shortly.
So stay tuned!
Spike Crew – Canon Squadron emerges victorious
In extremely closely fought battle for top honors, the squadron edged past the brilliant Bridges A. It was a game so close that it could have gone either way until the last ball was served. Spike for spike, block for block and dig for dig the teams were evenly matched.
Squadron Captain Karthik, constantly reinforced the team which was down one set and lead them to victory.
The unofficial scores were 15-25, 25-16, 25-22 for the squadron.
More details to follow soon.

Let’s have an awesome day of volleyball!
JNL Captain’s swaggering confidence
‘Wait and see’ is all he says. Talk has it that though one of their players is injured, they are full of crouching tigers and hidden dragons. He recollects playing with the ‘Jandhu Bombs'(?) and had a haughty laugh implying they will storm past them this time. Look out everybody.
Suresh and Kannan cranking up Spike Crew – ‘Adi’das
“Do your own thing” was the advice that Capt. Suresh and V.Capt.Kannan gave to the rest of the crew. Simply put, they had no intention of thinking about anything else other than winning. At one point, the Captain of “Pirates of the Curry Beans” (as they are called sometimes) exclaimed it is all about “playing with balls”. The V.Capt.Kannan was drawing up different rotation formats in his play book. The last piece of advice from the Capitan is, “If you don’t have a black shorts and unable to buy one, wear a short of any color (Please!)”
Bridges is back with a vengeance: Naveen
Naveen Abbineni, Bridges talked to reporters after their work out.
“We want to prove a point…We are a force to be reckoned with…As everyone…we have to cope up with injuries, contract releases….But you will see us play…I don’t want to say much”.
And as he walked past, he was doing the boxing rabbit punches move.
